Part of the Distillation process of an Essential Oil:
After the Distillation process is complete, the distilled water at the bottom of the kettle is the Hydrosol. It contains tiny molecules of the pure essential oil in the distilled water. Safe to use directly on the skin because of the dilution percentage. Several can be used for Toners—we have those available for use with our Facial Care packs. Others can be used for a Body Splash or Room Freshener.
Carrier Oils are usually plant based, vegetable oils derived from the seed, kernel or nuts of a plant. Many obtain these oils through cold processing.
A carrier Oil is required to “carry” the essential oils by way of dilution beforeyou can use them safely on the body.
Applying Essential oils..Neat…to the body is NOT recommended. Essential Oils must be diluted in a base oil before you can use them safely on the body.
Vegetable shortening, butter, margarine or petroleum derivatives such as: mineral oil, baby oil, petroleum jelly should NEVER be used as carrier oil.
